On April 10, 2023, the men's national team will start preparing for the 12 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Tampere (FIN) and Riga (LAT) from May 28 to 2023. The measure is divided into four phases, three phases of which will be carried out in Germany and one phase in Slovakia. For the DEB-Selection, seven test matches are scheduled during this time - five of the games will be played in home arenas.

After the four-week preparation phase, the team around the new national coach Harold Kreis will set off for Tampere (FIN) on May 10th and play the first World Cup group game against Sweden on May 12th.
