The club management of EG Diez-Limburg announced last week that it would be withdrawing from the club Oberliga Nord wanting to withdraw and not participate in the playdowns or playoffs. On Tuesday last week, those responsible for the Deutscher Eishockey-Bund (DEB) agreed to the request.
Impact on the current season Oberliga Nord
- After the end of the main round, EG Diez-Limburg is placed last in the table and is therefore relegated to the regional association.
- Since the club plays the main round to the end, all results remain in the ranking.
- The teams that finish the main round behind EG Diez-Limburg will each move up one place in the table in order to close the gap.
- Instead of two playdown series, there will only be one series (places 14 versus 13). The remaining teams remain in the league.
The currently highest playing ice hockey team Rheinland-Pfalz subject to the approval of the Ice Hockey Association Nordrhein-Westfalen, will play its games in the Regionalliga West next season.
The DEB regrets the departure of the EG Diez-Limburg from the Oberliga Nord and wishes the club all the best for its further steps.
