The Deutscher Eishockey-Bund (DEB) mourns together with the German ice hockey family for Jozef “Jojo” Čapla. The former DEB-Young talent trainer and Bavarian association coach died last Wednesday at the age of 84.
The former AEV Bundesliga player ended his active career in 1973 and became a coach. Even during his active time, his main focus was on working with young talent. At the DEB Jozef Čapla was involved as a Young Talent national coach for many years. Many former national players went through his training and were supported by him. In addition, he spent a long time training as a coach DEB actively and developed it further over his years. He also founded together with DEB in 1974 the first German ice hockey school in Füssen. Jozef Čapla also wrote several ice hockey textbooks that are still relevant today.
With Jozef Čapla, German ice hockey is losing a long-time and very committed companion who further developed and shaped ice hockey in Germany.
