We'll start with a new podcast episode in 2023. Karl and Collin Danielsmeier are using the restart to, among other things, talk about the innovations in trainer training and further education DEB These not only concern a new training course on leadership, which is the result of a cooperation with the “ZEIT Academy” (digital continuing education offering of the ZEIT Publishing group) was created, but also the personal skills test at the end of the Learn To Play Instructor (Module 1 Trainer-C-Competitive Sports).
With these topics we conclude the innovations for 2023 and next talk about which trainers we are actually aiming for and where we want to train them.
The two first discuss the topic of competence and competence-oriented learning. According to Karl, this is the ability/skill to solve a problem and also to want to solve it. But that in turn raises the problem that trainers may only be trained in a very small space. This raises the question of how much extensive knowledge one would have to impart on top in areas such as anatomy for athletic units, biomechanics for technical training, neuroscience for leadership topics. How much specialist knowledge do you have to give the trainers so that they can also question things? It is difficult to decide which knowledge topics to leave out of the time-limited training and further education periods. It is also important to question which skills one should focus more on in the future, such as helping trainers to get a job in the end and keep it.
The two also discuss the advantages and disadvantages of competency-oriented examination formats for the individual license levels that are available in the DEB- Trainer training definitely prevails and talk about the fact that you also have to tell people honestly if they are not suitable as a trainer.
Finally, the two give an insight into future topics such as the academization of trainer training in order to give trainers not only the opportunity to acquire an academic degree and thus complete vocational training, but also the opportunity to pursue a path outside of the trainer's career To be able to pursue ice hockey.
If you want to know how they rate their work so far and what ideas they have for the future, then listen.
