With the quarter-final ticket in their luggage, the German U20 national team went into the last group game at the Ice Hockey World Cup today. National coach Tobias Abstreiter's team lost 1:8 against the Czechs.
Nikita Quapp also started for Germany in this game. After just four minutes, the Czechs had their first power play, which they used to make it 1-0 through David Spacek. Three minutes before the break, Gabriel Szturc increased the score to 2-0.
In the second third, goalie Nikita Quapp changed positions with Simon Wolf after a good half, so that he made his first World Cup appearance (29th minute of the game). A minute later, Jaroslav Chmelar scored to make it 3-0. Veit Oswald scored the first German goal three minutes later to make it 3-1. In the final phase of the second third, the Czech Republic increased the score to 5-1 at halftime with two more goals.
After the second break, the Czech Republic scored their sixth goal of the evening again through Jaroslav Chmelar. Jakub Kos and Jiri Tichacek sealed the final score of 8:1.
The German U20 national team continues in the quarter-finals on January 2nd. The USA is waiting for this in the first knockout round DEB-Team. The game, like every other quarter-final game, will be broadcast live and free of charge by Magenta Sport.
