The new schedule for the IIHF U2021 World Championship in Edmonton, which was canceled in December 19 due to COVID-20, has now been set. From August 09 to 20, 2022, the young talent teams will meet again at Rogers Place in Canada to crown the new junior world champion.
The German team led by U20 national coach Tobias Abstreiter will now face the defending champions from the USA, the neighboring countries Austria and Switzerland, and the selection from Sweden in Group B. The young talent teams from Canada, Finland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Latvia will therefore form Group A.
Unlike previous years, all games in the Junior World Championship will take place at a single venue in August for the first time since 1988.
The four best teams from each group will qualify for the quarterfinals during the preliminary round, which is scheduled for August 17, 2022. The semi-finals and the games for bronze and gold will then take place on August 19th and 20th.
