Striker Tim Stützle will no longer appear for the German team at the 2022 Ice Hockey World Championships in Finland. This was the result of consultations between the medical department of the German national team and its NHL club Ottawa Senators.
DEB-Sports director Christian Künast: “Tim was lucky in misfortune. He has suffered a knee injury that will heal quickly and completely. After consulting with our medical department and the Ottawa Senators, we still decided to withdraw him from the tournament. Tim would not be spared by his opponents in the upcoming games and his health comes first. It is therefore logical and consistent to take this precautionary measure.”
The 20-year-old striker had to leave the ice in the first third of the third group game against France after a tackle on the boards and has not been able to take part in the World Cup since then.
