The German national ice hockey team's preparation plan for the World Cup, which will take place in Finland from May 13th to 27th, 2022, has been finalized. The team will meet for the first time on April 12, 2022. After four preparation phases and seven international matches, the departure to Helsinki is planned for May 10, 2022.
Phase 1 of the preparation takes place in Chomutov, Czech Republic. In addition to several training sessions, two games against hosts Czech Republic will take place in the Rocknet Arena, home of Pirati Chomutov, on April 14th and 15th.
The first home international matches for the German team will take place in Rosenheim the following week. On April 21st and 23rd, 2022, national coach Toni Söderholm's team will welcome Switzerland to two matches in the ROFA Stadium from the upper division club and three-time German champions Starbulls Rosenheim.
In the third preparation phase it works DEB-Team then from Bayern to Sachsen around. The JOYNEXT Arena (formerly: EnergieVerbund Arena) in the state capital Dresden will host the team for five days and two meetings with Olympic bronze medal winner Slovakia on April 29th and 30th, 2022.
The World Cup dress rehearsal will then take place on May 08, 2022 in Schwenningen. In the Helios Arena, Germany crosses bats with the promoted team from Division I Austria (replacement for Russia and Belarus).
