The U18 World Championship for ice hockey juniors will be played from April 23rd to May 01st, 2022 in Landshut and Kaufbeuren. Instead of the originally planned ten, eight teams will now fight for the world championship title in two newly seeded groups.
The team of U18 national coach Alexander Dück will therefore face defending champions Canada, record title holders USA and neighbouring country Czech Republic in Group A in Landshut. Finland, Sweden, Switzerland and Latvia will face each other in Group B.
The course of the tournament will be adjusted after the group phase and a quarter-final will be introduced in which the groups will play against the semi-final participants. On the weekend of April 30th/01. The semi-finals and finals will be played in Landshut in May 2022. Due to the two free places in the top division, there will be no relegation at this U18 World Cup.
