The women's team from ERC Ingolstadt won the championship title in the German Women's Ice Hockey League (DFEL) on Sunday afternoon. The Ingolstadt women won game 4 of the playoff final series, which was played in best-of-5 mode for the first time, 4-0. The goals in the decisive game in front of 515 spectators were scored by Theresa Wagner, Franziska Brendel, Jule Schiefer and Nicola Eisenschmid.
The Schanzer Panthers had previously lost Game 1 in Memmingen after extra time (2:3), but won the remaining games in regular time (3:1, 4:2). In the semi-finals, Ingolstadt sent the defending champions from ESC Planegg into the summer break with a 3-0 win.
For head coach Christian Sohlmann, captain Tanja Eisenschmid and the rest of the ERC Ingolstadt it is the first championship title ever. Last season, the main round winners won the bronze medal in the final tournament.
Goalkeeper Lisa Hemmerle was named the most valuable player of the playoffs by the champions. The top scorer in the playoffs was national player Jule Schiefer, who also played for the playoffs, with eleven points (6 goals, 5 assists) in seven games ERC Ingolstadt lace up the ice skates.
