The German U20 national team also has a positive Covid-19 case. The result was received DEB-Selection after one of the routine tests during the U20 World Championship in Canada.
The affected player was immediately isolated. He is doing well under the circumstances and has not shown any symptoms so far. According to the requirements of the Canadian authorities, the person affected must go into a ten-day quarantine. The team doctor in charge, Claudia Frenz, will remain with the player in Edmonton until the measures are lifted.
After the IIHF canceled the tournament yesterday, all participants were instructed to stay in their rooms until departure. The return journey of the DEB-Selection to Germany is currently being organized and will take place soon.
DEB-Sports director Christian Künast: “First of all, we wish our affected player a good recovery and a mild course. At the same time, we will be fully there for him to get through the quarantine in Edmonton as well as possible. That's why a carer will stay with him on site in Edmonton. We ran through relevant scenarios in the run-up to the tournament so that we can now fall back on the processes discussed.”
