In today's edition of DEB-Podcasts “Coach the Coach” are together with the two national coaches for science and education, Karl Schwarzenbrunner from DEB and Hannes Käsbauer from the German Badminton Association (DBV eV), on topics such as future projects in sport, coaching and talent promotion.
Käsbauer used to be an active badminton player himself and studied sports science and business administration during his time at the Saarbrücken federal base. After his career, he initially worked as a consultant in the IT industry and finally joined the German umbrella organization for badminton sports at the end of 2016.
“My wish would be to be able to host the Olympic Games in order to encourage competitive sports in Germany,” said Hannes Käsbauer, who sees great opportunities in a return of the Summer Olympics to Germany. He also discussed the DBV's strategic plan until 2024, the Coach Excellence Program, with Schwarzenbrunner. It is basically the counterpart to the future project “Powerplay 26”. DEB. The two of them also deal with the exact definition of the term “talent”. Here, for example, the DBV also uses the term “high potentials” in Young Talent, which defines young players who can be compared to the level of young athletes from Asian countries where badminton is considered a national sport.
Technology is also a factor in sport that is evolving and offering ever better opportunities. In this way, the two trainers bring themselves up to date with the latest developments in their association on the subject of artificial intelligence and the associated possibilities for advancing game analysis. Finally, as always, Karl Schwarzenbrunner asks his guest about the future of competitive sports. Käsbauer believes in the high value of competitive sport and confirms that we will continue to carry this value forward together in Germany.
