Voices about the game:
Captain Marco Nowak: “In the first 10 minutes, Russia quickly scored 2-0. But then we reacted immediately and hats off to the whole team. From the second third onwards, I think we played outstandingly. We were really good when we were outnumbered and blocked shots, like Patrick Hager's brutal block at the end. Andy Jenike in goal was outstanding. That was really a strong team performance."
Goal scorer for 3:2 Leo Pföderl: "I think the performance was very strong. The start was obviously not what we had imagined, but then we showed great morale. The Russians had a harder time because of our aggressiveness and we got into the game better. We created a few chances and scored goals. That was a great team performance, we can continue like this."
National coach Toni Söderholm: "That was definitely not the start we wanted. Bit by bit, tackle by tackle, we got back into the game. We played well when we were outnumbered and scored an important 4-2 goal when we were in the majority. We won time in the offensive zone through good tackles. We also got better defensively as the game went on. We can still improve. It was a good fighting performance. I am particularly proud of how the boys fought back."
