Starting on Tuesday, the U16 national team will prepare for the first international comparison of the new season with a course lasting several days. After two previous screening courses in which a total of 46 players born in 2006 took part, U16 honorary national coach Robert Schroepfer nominated a 24-strong squad for the measure. At the federal base in Füssen, the U16 team will meet Austria, Switzerland and Belarus as part of a four-nation tournament (August 19 to 21, 2021). Audience is not permitted.
The U16 national team's further schedule includes two international tournaments in Finland. At the beginning of October, the DEB-Selection of two Finnish national teams in Vierumäki before a four-nation tournament is held in Imatra in December. In addition to Finland and Germany, Switzerland and Slovakia are taking part.
Robert Schroepfer: “We try to develop the players and prepare them as best as possible for the international games. Every measure is important in order to get to know us and to fundamentally rehearse our gaming behavior. In Finland the players will have to take the next step, as we expect games here at the highest level of running and play. This will certainly be challenging for the players who have not had any games or sufficient training opportunities in recent times. That’s why we also carried out and planned internal test games to simulate different game situations.”
U17 national team travels to Switzerland for five-nation tournament
An important international comparison is also scheduled for the U17 national team in the coming days. This Monday, the selection of U17 honorary national coach Philip Kipp is traveling to Visp (Switzerland) to take part in a five-nation tournament (August 17th to 21st, 2021). The opponents are hosts Switzerland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and the USA.
Philip Kipp: “We want to deepen the principles of our playing principles and thus lay the foundation for introducing the 2006 team to the U18 and U20. The course is of great importance to us, as we recently had to limit ourselves to a few measures due to the pandemic. Therefore, it is now important to bring the team step by step up to international level after a season without full play. Even if other nations have a slight advantage because the restrictions on young talent competitive sports are different, we want to continue to define ourselves by our own goals and get the best out of ourselves.”
