The U20 national team achieved its first win in the second game at the home tournament in Füssen. The young talent selection of the Deutscher Eishockey-Bund clearly defeated the opponent from the Czech Republic 5:0 (2:0; 2:0; 1:0)
The team of U20 national coach Tobias Abstreiter acted powerfully from the start and set the course for victory early on. Maksymilian Szuber scored the opening goal in the second minute. Just two minutes later Danjo Leonhardt made it 2-0. Both teams subsequently neutralized each other and the German selection was able to go into the first break with a reassuring lead.
Team Germany also offered a concentrated and, above all, strong defensive performance in the second third. With another double strike, the lead was comfortably extended. In the 35th minute it was up to Justin Volek to increase the score to 3-0, and Haakon Hänelt in the 39th minute made it an early decision before the second break.
The German selection didn't let themselves be disturbed in the third section either. The victory was safe in the end and thanks to the self-sacrificing style of play in defense, goalie Arno Tiefensee was able to stay without conceding a goal until the end. In the last minute of the game, Michael Bartuli scored the final point and made it 5-0, which was also the final result.
Tomorrow, Saturday, the last game of the tournament for the German team will be against Denmark. With a win you can secure second place in the home tournament.
