In the squad of DEBThere are six debutants in the teams. Defender Bernhard Ebner (Düsseldorfer EG) with 47 missions so far. The team is largely made up of players from clubs that did not reach the PENNY DEL play-offs, plus defender Tobias Fohrler (HC Ambri-Piotta/SUI). The largest contingent of players is made up of Düsseldorfer EG with eight professionals.
DEB-Coach Söderholm will complete four training sessions with the team in Nuremberg before traveling to Slovakia in two buses on Friday. All players and supervisors arrive at the course tested negative and will continue to have daily corona tests afterwards. The World Cup preparations will continue again in Nuremberg the following week, then the first two home international games before the World Cup tournament are on the program against the Czech Republic (April 29th and May 1st). All World Cup preparation games of the German men's national team will be broadcast live on MAGENTA SPORT.
DEB-National coach Toni Söderholm: “I’m really pleased to finally be able to work with the national team again. We have players from six PENNY DEL teams at our disposal. This also means we can test more perspective players in the first week, which I think is very important for the future. Some have a lot of perspective and deserve the chance to fight for a place. We will gradually build our game system and our game philosophy. We are now taking the first steps in the game with and without the puck. It will be groundwork in a certain way. But the identity of the team must be immediately recognizable when we play against Slovakia.”
