The Deutscher Eishockey-Bund will determine the champions of the Women's Bundesliga (DFEL) in the 2020/21 season in a Final Four tournament in Füssen. The first four teams in the DFEL main round qualify for the DFEL Final Four final tournament on March 13th and 14th. Surely they already have their participation ERC Ingolstadt, the ECDC Memmingen Indians as well as the ESC Planegg. The fourth starting position will go to either Eisbären Juniors Berlin or a Mad Dogs Mannheim who will meet in two direct duels next weekend. All games are live, free of charge and in full length in the live stream www.thefan.fm/live to be followed. The DFEL will be the first ice hockey league in Germany to play a champion during the corona pandemic.
On the weekend before the Final Four tournament, the main round of a season ends, which has so far gone almost smoothly despite the corona-related restrictions. There were very few game cancellations, none of the teams had to go into quarantine, games were only canceled due to suspected COVID-19 cases. The clubs had already agreed on the new game mode and the waiver of play-offs in the “best-of-three” format in November. All participating teams must undergo a testing system for the Final Four tournament, which includes a PCR entry test and other rapid tests. No audience is permitted in Füssen.
The Final Four tournament will also be the last appearance for the national players before the start of World Cup preparations and will be played in the following format:
