Shortly before the end of the quarantine of part of the U20 national team, the Deutscher Eishockey-Bund decided to publish the names of the players affected by a Covid-19 infection. This decision was made in consultation with and at the request of the team by U20 national coach Tobias Abstreiter before the World Cup opening game against Finland (0:26 CET on the night of December XNUMXth/MagentaSport). All of the sick players are doing well given the circumstances.
However, before the infected players are allowed back on the ice, they must all go through an extensive return-to-play protocol lasting several days. As a result, the medical department of the World Cup tournament will first be released if there are no complaints. Then the judges DEB-Team doctor checks the physical condition again before the “green light” can be given for use.
The affected players of the U20 national team:
Florian Bugl, Maksymilian Szuber (both Red Bull Hockey Juniors), Lucas Flade (Dresdner Eislöwen), Joshua Samanski (Ravensburg Towerstars), Niklas Länger (Augsburger Panther), Markus Schweiger (ESV Kaufbeuren), Jan Nijenhuis (Grizzlys Wolfsburg), Filip Reisnecker (Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven)
