At the weekend, the Young Grizzlys Wolfsburg and the ES Weißwasser enforced. Both teams are therefore eligible to play in the top division of the youth Bundesliga. ETC Crimmitschau will compete in Division 2 North next season.
Wolfsburg (Eighth Division 1 North 2019/20) beat Crimmitschau (Seventh Division 1 North 2019/20) 7:2 and against ES Weißwasser 10:2 in Dresden. The first place team in last year's Division 2 North from Upper Lusatia retained the upper hand against Crimmitschau 1:5 in the ultimately decisive duel for participation in the upcoming Division 4 North season.
The tournament became necessary after a decision by the competitive sports committee. After last season's qualifying round had to be canceled due to the corona pandemic, not all sporting decisions had been made yet. The competitive sports committee saw the tournament as the best opportunity to give Weißwasser a chance for promotion and at the same time maintain the league strength at eight teams.
