“The Deutscher Eishockey-Bund is pleased with this further important decision. It was our wish to include the ice hockey leagues as eligible applicants for the “Corona Aid for Professional Sports” and we have been campaigning for this persistently for months. It's nice and especially for the clubs of the highest DEB leagues a signal of appreciation. The fact that effort and commitment are worthwhile and that politicians are open to the concerns of sport is once again backed up by action. The next step will be to further raise awareness of the specific circumstances of professional sport in relation to the essential directive from EU state aid law and to establish economic criteria that can be met, such as the proposed licensing for the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons to set a benchmark.”
Here is the joint press release from Teamsport Germany on the matter.
