DEB-President Franz Reindl: “We are pleased to note the current decisions at state policy level. In this way, the efforts of the entire sport will be rewarded with further progress on the way back to normality. The decided return to Bayern to full competition and partial admission of spectators in amateur sports is a very important step that gives our sport a long-awaited perspective and enables Young Talent to play at a nationwide level.
This marks the start of the season DEB-Young talent leagues on the 26th/27th September nothing stands in the way. Overall, the movements in the federal states are also important for the women's Bundesliga with a view to the planned start of the season on the 16th/17th. October is an important signal. And last but not least, the professional leagues in German ice hockey from the Oberliga to the DEL can register with relief the positive tendencies towards partial admission of spectators.
With the current measures and openings, politicians are clearly documenting their appreciation for sport as an important social factor. It is now up to everyone involved to deal with this situation responsibly, because health is still above all else.”
DEB-Sports Director Stefan Schaidnagel: “Our approach has always been to achieve what is possible and so we are pleased that the persistent work of the last few weeks and months is starting to bear fruit. Last but not least, these developments mean that our sport can really pick up speed again, especially at the grassroots level and with young talent - of course always in compliance with the measures in force during the corona pandemic. It is not an option for us not to play because we have to maintain our sport and want to keep it on the good path that has been taken in recent years. In this respect, the decisions also have a significant impact on our national teams and should also be viewed positively in this context.”
