National players complete trial internship – Schaidnagel: “Very interested in the future orientation of our players”
Sharpen your eyes for your second career: Olympic silver medalist Frank Wall and top talent Moritz Seider took a look behind the scenes of the Deutscher Eishockey-Bund during a trial internship lasting several days and gained valuable impressions of work away from the ice. The 32-year-old striker from Red Bull Munich and the 19-year-old defender from the Detroit Red Wings organization received flying visits to various administrative offices DEB-Areas include, among other things, insights into the processes in league games, the planning of sporting measures, coach training, passport and transfer systems, the area of finance as well as the structures of the marketing, event and communication departments.
DEB-Sports Director Stefan Schaidnagel: “It is important for us that we use the opportunity to give active players an insight into the association’s work. We think it's important that they think about the time after their career early on and think about what's possible in their sport. Overall, they have certainly recognized what it's all about: as players, they often imagine certain things to be easier than they actually are. I think we have presented the complexity well and will continue to pursue such formats because we are very interested in the future orientation of our players.”
Moritz Seider: “You come to your annual measures and everything is taken care of, but now we had the chance to look behind the scenes and have a better idea of what goes into it. You always want to position yourself broadly and the sooner you start planning for life after your career, the better it is. That’s why I’m using the time now to collect ideas for later.”
Frank Wall: “We had the great opportunity to go through the departments and get an insight into what is happening here. For us, it's usually only the sporting part that counts and we therefore know little about what's happening in the background. So it was interesting to see how people are trying to advance the sport of ice hockey. Because I'm continuing my education, it's simply interesting to see what's happening in the association and what activities could be that would be interesting for me later. I still have a few good years ahead of me, which I'm still enjoying as an athlete, but the older you get, the more you think about the end of your career.”
