Peterka, Reichel, Pasanen and Alberg score in the first of three U20 test matches
The German U20 national team left a mixed impression in the first of three friendly matches against Switzerland. The team of U20 national coach Tobias Abstreiter achieved a high goal 4:8 (1:1, 3:4, 0:3) After more than four months without competition, there were some offensive actions worth seeing, but due to the recent lack of ice time for a long time, coordination problems were also unmistakable. A positive example was the opening goal for the selection of the Deutscher Eishockey-Bund by the Munich native at the OYM sports performance center in Cham near Zug John Jason Peterka (14th), who used a fine pass from Mannheim's Tim Stützle.
The equalizer by Gaetan Jobin (20th) threw the German team out of step, because at the beginning of the second third the Abstreiter team had to accept two more goals in a double blow from Raymond Fust and Lorenzo Canonica (both 22nd). With Simon Knak's 1:4 (24th minute) they were defeated DEB-Selection fell even further behind, reported with the goal of Berliners Lukas Reichel (26.) However, the Swiss had another answer ready in the form of Dario Allenspach (28').
Defender held with a powerful slap shot to make it 3:5 Tommy Pasanen (31.) the DEB in the game before Manuel Alberg (32.) a little later, making it 4:5. But in the final third, the Swiss also managed to score an early goal through Mika Burkhalter (41st minute), but this time the Abstreiter team could not find a way back into the match. Elvis Schläpfer (55th minute) and again Fust (58th minute) made sure of the final score.
During the six-day summer course, the two teams will meet for the second time on Tuesday (17 p.m.), followed by the first on Thursday (13 p.m.). DEB-Measure since the corona-related break is the third comparison. On Tuesday (18.30 p.m.) and Wednesday (14 p.m.) the U18 national team of U18 national coach Steffen Ziesche will also meet their Swiss counterparts in Zuchwil. Unlike in Cham, audiences are permitted at these games within the framework of the Swiss Corona regulations.
U20 national coach Tobias Abstreiter: “The Swiss had been on the ice a few days longer than us – and you could tell. They were a step faster in terms of running, we gave up too many easy goals. The first third was okay, after conceding quick goals in the second third we fought back, but the bottom line was that the level of mistakes was simply too high. In the second game we want to be more stable and reduce the errors.”
