Collecting donations for a children's hospice, supporting companies at risk: Some national ice hockey players are also involved in the Corona crisis and are trying to make a contribution with various projects. The Olympic silver medalists Dominik Kahun (24) and Moritz Mueller (33) are examples of this. NHL professional Kahun from the Buffalo Sabers has launched a fundraising campaign, the proceeds of which will benefit the Munich Outpatient Children's Hospice. National team captain Müller from the Kölner Haien especially wants to help smaller companies not to completely lose their footing. The defender played a leading role in founding the free online platform “localoos”. Companies can register there and draw attention to themselves like on a marketplace.
Kahun started his relief campaign last week under the motto “Kahun fights for children's hearts” and initially donated 31 euros for each of his 200 scorer points in the current season, for a total of 6.200 euros. The striker set the goal of spending 15.000 euros, which should be reached by the end of the month. More than 6 euros had already been received on Monday morning (April 13.000th).
Dominik Kahun says of its fundraising campaign: “The hospice is counting on voluntary support, especially during this state of emergency, in order to be able to continue to maintain its vital service. I’m happy about every donation, no matter how small. Let’s fight together for the kids.”
Moritz Mueller says about his platform: “Especially now everyone should look at how they can help local retailers. For me as a professional athlete, it's about supporting those who otherwise support us all the time. Without sponsors our sport would be unthinkable.”
