With a lot of creativity, the Deutscher Eishockey-Bund (DEB) reacted to the difficult circumstances due to the corona pandemic in trainer training and implemented part of the C course in the context of a virtual classroom. Since the training could not take place in the Federal Training Center in Füssen due to the current situation, but adaptability is essential, especially in everyday coaching, the first module (L2Play Instructor) was innovatively changed. The sessions on and off the ice will be rescheduled as soon as conditions permit.
In addition to athletics, stick technique and sports psychology, the focus was on the prevention of sexual violence (PSG). From this year onwards, the PSG teaching units will increasingly be taught in all training and further education courses. Fortunately, the feedback from participants was consistently positive, particularly due to the flexible commitment of the speakers.
At this point a thank you goes out Tom Schädler, Julia Eisenrieder, Dr. Tom Kossak, Collin Danielsmeier and the National coach for science and training Karl Schwarzenbrunner, who made virtual training with his team possible in the first place. We are working hard to ensure that all other courses and training courses are held largely online and that the practical parts will also be added as soon as possible. The training as part of the five-star program DEB will also be held virtually next weekend. With this in mind: stay at home and stay healthy!
Karl Schwarzenbrunner/National Trainer for Science and Training:
"The current situation is new for everyone and anything but comfortable. Since the health of society is our absolute priority, we have been looking for a way to implement our courses. Through a lot of research, test phases and, last but not least, the fact that we already have a digital infrastructure with our teaching platform and the associated "blended learning", we managed to hold the course last weekend and switch to virtual with almost no problems. Our trainer training is thus being taken to a new level and we are managing not to have to postpone the theoretical teaching units for all registered participants."

"It was a little strange to speak in front of a group that wasn't there in person. Nevertheless, the interaction with the participants via the various channels worked very well and with a little creativity the content could also be conveyed quite well from home."
