Tournament victory at the premiere of Women's perspective teams! U18 national coach Franziska Busch's team lost 0-1 (0-0, 0-1, 0-0) to the hosts from Korea in the last tournament game, but still secured tournament victory in the end.
After this victory was already certain before the game thanks to the Czech Republic's success over Poland, it initially took some time to build up the necessary tension. The first third went without any major highlights. In the second section, the Koreans increased the pace and the DEB-Selection continued to behave too passively. Consequently, the host was able to take a 1-0 lead. In the last part of the game, the German women's perspective team improved and tried with all means to turn the game around. However, the Korean goalkeeper was able to keep her goal clean until the end and thus perfect her shutout.
The positive impressions of these first three games of the women's perspective team predominate. With the tournament victory at the Legacy Cup 2020, the women's perspective team returns to Germany on Monday. Express thanks go to the Korean Ice Hockey Association, who organized a tournament at the highest organizational level.
Franziska Busch, U18 women’s national coach: “We played well defensively today, but had less action on offense. We were too passive in the first two thirds - we had some good moves in the last period, but unfortunately we couldn't turn the game in our favor in the end. Of course, we are happy about the tournament victory of a team that played together in this form for the first time. The tournament was very insightful and we were able to convey our philosophy to the players and pass them on for the future. It was a very successful event – appealing, with closely fought games and ultimately sporting success for our team.”
The German U16 women's national team Meanwhile, he was also able to celebrate a sporting success. Young Talent national coach Daniel Bartell's team clearly defeated Switzerland 6-0 (2-0, 2-0, 2-0) and ultimately secured second place at the 4-nation tournament in Benesov, Czech Republic.
It wasn't just the third-quarter results and the game result that reminded the German U16 women's national team of yesterday's 6-0 win against Austria. Young Talent national coach Daniel Bartell's team also got off to a lightning start against the Swiss: it took 110 seconds for Lola Liang to put the disc in the goal for the first time. Chanel-Virginia Hofverberg increased to 2-0 just four minutes later. In the middle section it struck DEB-Selection doubled up again: Lola Liang completed her hat trick with goals in the 24th and 39th minutes. Katharina Häckelsmiller scored twice in the final period and made it 6-0 DEB-Selection perfect.
Daniel Bartell, Young Talent national coach: “The girls implemented the tactical instructions very well today and the victory was never in danger at any point in the game. They gave the Swiss little breathing room and were very effective. Overall, after a bumpy start, we successfully finished the tournament with two clear victories and can be proud of second place. We draw a very positive conclusion – the games were good preparation for the European Cup, which follows in April.”
