Second defeat for them U18 national team at the 4-nation tournament in Slovakia. U18 national coach Steffen Ziesche's team lost 0:2 (0:0, 0:1, 0:1) to Switzerland.
The Swiss had a better start to the game and created a superiority of chances without scoring a goal in the first 20 minutes. The same picture emerged in the second half of the game, where the Swiss team continued to dominate the game without scoring. It was only 21 seconds before the third-period siren that Louis Robin broke the goalkeeper's spell and shot Switzerland into the lead with the advantage - Josef Eham had to take a seat in the penalty box on the German side. In the 43rd minute, Joel Bieri shot the Swiss two goals ahead after assists from Jérémie Bärtschi and Noah Meier. The score lasted until the end of the game.
Steffen Ziesche, U18 national coach: “Today we were inferior to the Swiss in terms of play and therefore consequently lost. We will use the evening to analyze the game accordingly and draw the right conclusions from it. In the final game against Belarus we have to show the best performance of the tournament.”
The German U16 national team also won their last game at the 4 Nations Tournament in France. U16 national coach Thomas Schädler's team defeated Austria 6:1 (2:0, 2:0, 2:1) and celebrated their second win in the third game.
The DEB-Selection started the game well and celebrated a double strike from Fabio Sarto and Benedikt Diebolder in the 10th and 11th minutes and the resulting two-goal lead. The German team expanded this further in the middle section: Lennard Nieleck (34th minute) and Maksim Anton (37th) made it 4-0. Even in the final section it remained the same DEB-Selection true to their line - two more goals left the spectators in Vaujany no longer in doubt that the German team would win. Jesse Kauhanen (49th) and Maxim Fischer (55th) increased the score to 6-0. It had to be 105 seconds before the final siren DEB-Selection had to accept the Austrian goal by Stephan Rossmann, but ultimately celebrated second place at the tournament in Vaujany.
Thomas Schädler, U16 national coach: “I am very happy with today’s game and also with the team’s development from the tournament in December to today. We were able to overcome our tempo problems from the first game in the second and third games. Our defense has also improved greatly. Now it’s time to build on our performance at the tournament in Italy in April.”
