The newly created women's perspective team won their first game at the Legacy Cup in Gangneung, South Korea. The team of U18 women's national coach Franziska Busch defeated the Czech Republic 0:2 (5:3, 1:2, 2:0) after being 2:1 behind.
Lenka Serdar and Eliska Vaneckoca put the Czechs ahead early in the 2nd and 12th minutes. After the Czechs quickly took a 2-0 lead in the first half, the team of U18 women's national coach Franziska Busch found their way together and were able to create more and more scoring opportunities. Sarah Kubiczek took advantage of one of these goals in the 15th minute after Tara Schmitz's preparatory work.
In the second third they were able to DEB-Selection initially dominated and scored the equalizer in the 23rd minute through Kelsey Soccio and four minutes later the lead through Pauline Gruchot. From the middle of the second third, the Czechs put the pressure on again. In this phase, however, the German goalkeeper Sophie Disl was a sure support. After the Czech Republic equalized in the final third through Lenka Serdar (43'), the German team responded within 40 seconds with another goal to take the lead. Tea-Marleen Bartell scored for them DEB-Selection. From this moment on, the team was able to control the game more and more and scored the deserved 5:3 goal three minutes before the end by Lena Schurr after preparatory work by Naemi Bär and Kelsey Soccio.
Franziska Busch, U18 women’s national coach: “Our new team improved from third to third today and implemented the instructions well. We have a balanced squad – all four rows played through. Especially given the fact that there was a long international break for many players and we didn't know what to expect in this newly created format, we showed a decent performance and deserved to win.
