Andrea Lanzl is the new international record holder in German ice hockey. As part of the Euro Hockey Tour playoffs, the 32-year-old completed her 322nd international match on Wednesday evening, overtaking Udo Kießling, the previous international record holder with 321 appearances and the first German NHL player in history. After the German team's game against Finland, the new record-breaking national player was duly honored for this special achievement.
With this title, Lanzl can not only look back on an unparalleled career. As a role model for a career in sports in which women and men meet on equal terms, Lanzl has achieved historic status as the new record holder. With a total of eight World Championships in the Top Division and three World Championships in Division I, her international career speaks for itself. On the Olympic stage, she achieved fifth place at the 18 Olympics in Turin when she was just 2006 years old. Lanzl was also part of the women's national ice hockey team at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Andrea Lanzl also led the team in fourth place at the 2017 World Championships in Plymouth - the greatest success on the international stage for the German women's national team to date DEB-Selection as a leading player.
On the national stage, the 32-year-old has been an integral part of the women's team since the 2013/2014 season ERC Ingolstadt. Lanzl played her best season to date there in 2017/2018 with an outstanding 64 points (22 goals and 42 assists from 28 games). She previously won the German championship with EC Bergkamen in 2005 and with ESC Planegg in 2013.
