The German Women's national team lost their opening game of the 6-nation tournament in Eksjö, Sweden, 1:3 (0:1, 0:2, 1:0) against Finland.
The German team found it difficult to keep up with Finland's pace at the start of the game. Kerstin Spielberger then had the first chance for Germany to score after four minutes. However, Finland continued to dominate the game and took the 13-0 lead through Rosa Lindstedt in the 1th minute. The DEB-Selection had strong support in Jennifer Harss and was able to improve until the end of the first third.
Finland pulled away to 0-3 in the middle period thanks to goals from Susanna Tapani and Sanni Hakala, but the German team didn't let that discourage them either. One minute before the end, Daria Gleissner served Nicola Eisenschmid, who, standing free in front of the goal, pushed in the score to make it 1:3 and make the final score.
Christian Künast, women’s national coach: “After slight problems adapting to the pace of the vice-world champions at the start of the game, we improved as we progressed. We showed a very good fighting performance. The last third can be seen as positive, we still have a long way to go to prepare for the World Cup.”
On the second matchday of the Five Nations Tournament in Berlin the German presented itself U19 national team improved greatly, but in the end had to narrowly admit defeat to the Swedish selection 4:6 (2:0, 1:1, 1:5).

Sweden continued to apply pressure, but Germany remained calm and coolly took advantage of a counterattack opportunity by Jan-Luca Schumacher in the 35th minute. The score went into the second break 3-1.
Both teams also exchanged blows openly in the third third. The German selection countered the Swedes' connection in the 44th minute through Lindner on an assist from Reisnecker. Shortly afterwards, however, the opponent managed to make it 4:3 (52nd minute) and equalize to 4:4. (53rd minute). Luck was finally on the Swedish side for the hard-fought winning goal. Lucas Edmonds scored the decisive goal in the 55th minute of the game and added the final score to 4:6 shortly before the end.
The German team showed a good performance that can be built on as the tournament progresses. Tomorrow U20 national coach Tobias Abstreiter's team can recover before facing the Czech team on Friday at 18 p.m.
Tobias Abstreiter, U20 national coach: “The team improved significantly from yesterday and we had the opportunity to win this game for a long time. Unfortunately, we ran out of gas at the end. Nevertheless, we have seen what it takes to compete at the top level. It’s part of the learning process to make a game like this successful in the end.”
The way food is U16 national team had to admit defeat on Wednesday. U16 national coach Thomas Schädler's team lost 1:3 (0:1, 1:1, 1:1) in their opening game against Norway.
The Norwegians took the lead in the fourth minute through Oskar Kind Bakkevig and continued DEB-Selection also subsequently came under pressure with their offensive. The German team showed improvement in the middle section, but had to accept their second goal in the 30th minute from Kasper Magnussen.
