The Deutscher Eishockey-Bund (DEB) mourns the loss of Sophie scratches. The former national player and DEB- and home World Cup 2017 employee died on January 13, 2020 at the age of just 30 after a serious illness.
Sophiekrater has been a member of the German women's national team since 2008, took part in five World Cups and the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and was used in 2016 international matches up to the 17/149 season. At the 2017 IIHF Women's Ice Hockey World Championship in Plymouth (USA), she celebrated the greatest German success in World Cup history when DEB-Selection surprisingly made it to the semi-finals and took fourth place. In the same year she became German champion for the seventh time with ESC Planegg.
The Landshut native not only shaped German ice hockey as a player, but was also involved off the ice. As part of the organizing committee, she played a key role in the success of the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships in Cologne and Paris.
With Sophie scratch he loses DEB an incredibly successful and likeable leader at just 30 years old.

The DEB and the entire German ice hockey family are thinking of her family and express our deepest sympathy and sincere condolences to all relatives."
