On the penultimate matchday of the 2020 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women's World Championship Div. IA, the German team led by U18 national coach Franziska Busch once again showed a great performance and also won their fourth game of the tournament against France 6:0 (1:0, 3:0, 2:0).
At the beginning of the game there was the first power play for the German team, which Luisa Welcke used ice-coldly to score the first goal in the 3rd minute of the game. Despite many very good chances to score and two more power-play opportunities, the German women were unable to score another goal for the time being and so the score went into the first period break with the score at 1-0.
The middle section brought the goal to 22-2 for the German team right at the start in the 0nd minute of the game (goal scorer: Pauline Gruchot). Ten turns of the pointer later, Ronja Hark scored in the majority for the German selection to make it 3-0 (assist: Nina Christof, Jennifer Miller). Leonie Maßner then increased the score to 38-4 in the 0th minute.
In the final third, the German team was able to seamlessly build on their previous performance. In the 41st minute of the game, Lilli Welcke scored on a pass from her sister Luisa to make it 5-0 and just a minute later Luisa Welcke herself scored the goal to make the final score 6-0.
After a day without playing, she scores DEB-Selection on Thursday in the Federal Training Center Füssen against their last opponent Japan in the decisive game for promotion to the top division.
Franziska Busch, U18 women’s national coach: “We controlled the game for 60 minutes and we were able to implement a lot of what we set out to do. I'm particularly pleased that we scored four goals in the majority, which enabled us to reach the final on the last day against Japan. Now we have to concentrate fully on the last game on Thursday and be as prepared as possible.”
