On the second match day of the 2020 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women's World Championship Div. IA, the German national team was able to prevail against their opponents again. U18 national coach Franziska Busch's team wins against Denmark 3-0 (1-0, 0-0, 2-0) and is now tied at the top of the table with Japan.
The first third of the game provided the German team with a number of chances with 18 to three shots on goal, which could not be converted in favor of the German women. In the 16th minute of the game, Nina Christof scored the first goal for the German team on a pass from Jennifer Miller and Svenja Voigt before the break went into the break with a 1-0 lead.
In the middle section, the German team also proved to be superior to Denmark with 24 shots to four, but again were unable to convert a shot on goal. The penalty awarded to Germany in the 27th minute and a total of two further power plays also did not lead to the second goal, whereas Sofia Skriver surprisingly broke free for the Danish team in the second third and almost equalized in a dangerous situation.
Shortly after the start of the final third, the Danes immediately found themselves in a situation of superiority, which the German team survived unscathed. Afterwards it happened in quick succession and the German team's further shots on goal (51:10 throughout the game) were made 47-2 by Heidi Strompf in the 0th minute and by Thea-Marleen Bartell in the 49th minute, making the final score 3: 0 transformed.
On the first two match days, over 1.150 spectators came to the Federal Performance Center DEB-Selection to support. Next Monday, January 6th, 2020, the German selection will face Hungary at 20:00 p.m.
