U18 national team: narrow defeat against the Swiss
The U18 national team lost the second game at the 5-nations tournament in Zuchwil after extra time. Against Switzerland there was a 2:3 (2:1/0:1/0:0/0:1) after a penalty shootout.
The German selection did not find its way into the game straight away and the Swiss took advantage of their first numerical advantage to take the lead. But the team of U18 national coach Steffen Ziesche fought their way back into the game. In the 18th minute, Simon Stowasser equalized before Josef Eham put the Germans in the lead while they were outnumbered shortly before half-time.
At the beginning of the second period, the Swiss were able to equalize. The German selection now found their way into the game better and had more chances in the last period. However, they were unable to take advantage of the power play situations both in regular time and in overtime.
Tomorrow the German selection will play its third game on the third day of the tournament. At 15 p.m. you will meet the Finnish selection.
Steffen Ziesche, U18 national coach: “The attitude of my team was absolutely fine. We narrowly lost an even game, also because small mistakes kept creeping in, especially in the outnumbered and undernumbered situations. We will try to fix this tomorrow. We are looking forward to tomorrow, where a big challenge awaits us in Finland.”
