The women's national team started the tournament at the 4-nation tournament in Füssen against Sweden with a 3:2 win (1:1, 2:1, 0:0).
Sweden started very stormy and so Jennifer Harß had to play in the goal DEB-Teams should be wide awake from the start. However, it was Sarah Kubiczek, called up at short notice to replace Julia Zorn, who was sent on her way by Daria Gleißner and scored safely to make it 1-0 after six minutes. The Swedes continued to attack and had good chances to score. After 14 minutes they got their deserved equalizer, a shot from the blue line by Maja Nylén-Persson landed unstoppable in the goal. There were further good scoring opportunities on both sides, but the score remained 20-1 after 1 minutes.
Germany went into the second third with a majority situation. It didn't lead to success, but it did DEB-Team remained on the offensive and after 41 seconds Kerstin Spielberger made it 2-1. Anne Bartsch shot from the blue line after 28 minutes and extended the German lead to two goals. Less than a minute after the goal, Sofie Lundin was able to score the next goal for the Swedes. The third was more open - both teams had good chances to score. However, the teams didn't score any more goals and so the score went into the second break with a score of 3-2.
The Swedes applied pressure in the final period and took the goalkeeper off the ice early on. They tried for almost 3:30 minutes without their goalkeeper, but the defense around Jennifer Harss blocked everything that came towards the goal.
