The German U20 national team won its final game at the 4-nation tournament in Piešťany. The team of U20 national coach Tobias Abstreiter defeated Switzerland 3:2 (1:0, 0:1, 2:1) in the Easton Aréna. So the added DEB-Selection gave the Swiss their first defeat in the tournament and moved past them in the table thanks to the direct comparison they won. Whether U20 national coach Tobias Abstreiter's team will ultimately be able to win the tournament will be decided after the Slovakia game against Norway (14:30 p.m. start of the game).
The DEB-Selection created more chances in the opening third and consequently went ahead in the sixth minute through Yannik Valenti. The 19-year-old took the German lead after work from Simon Gnyp and Tim Fleischer. In the middle section, two players, Tim Lutz and Magnus Eisenmenger, took a place in the penalty box in the 29th and 30th minutes respectively, so that the Swiss had a double majority. Simon Wüest took advantage of this and scored the equalizer nine seconds before the end of the first penalty time. Jan Nijenhuis put the disc into the Swiss goal twice in the final period (49th and 56th), so that the German team was able to enter the final minutes with a two-goal lead. Switzerland came within one goal again with Simon Wüest's second goal of the day (60th), but was unable to avert their first defeat of the tournament.
