At the Deutschland Cup (7 to 10 November 2019 in Krefeld) the national team will compete with five debutants. DEB-ONLINE.DE spoke to the new national players in advance and asked them five questions.
Today Colin Ugbekile delivers from the Kölner Haien the answers. The 20-year-old defender only achieved promotion to the top division with the U20 national team in December last year. Almost a year later, he wore the jersey of the men's national team for the first time...
DEB-ONLINE.DE: What was your reaction when national coach Toni Söderholm invited you to join the national team?
That was an incredible moment! I had goosebumps when I got the call and of course I was incredibly happy! Playing for the senior national team has always been a dream of mine, but I didn't think it would happen so quickly. I'm happy that all the hard work pays off in moments like this and that motivates me even more!
DEB-ONLINE.DE: What are your expectations for the first game?
Of course, I always want to give my best performance – especially at international level. I'm going to work hard, not worry too much and just play my game.
DEB-ONLINE.DE: Your dream seat neighbor in the cabin?
If I had the choice, it would probably be Tim Wohlgemuth, Tim Brunnhuber or Sebastian Uvira!
