At the Deutschland Cup (7 to 10 November 2019 in Krefeld) the national team will compete with five debutants. DEB-ONLINE.DE spoke to the new national players in advance and asked them five questions.
Today Kevin Reich delivers from EHC Red Bull München the answers. The 24-year-old goalie has attracted attention in the current season in both the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) and the Champions Hockey League. He is also no stranger to the national team: he has already played for the U20, U18, U17 and U16 teams - now he is making his debut with the men's national team, for which tickets are still available deb-online.de/tickets are available.
DEB-ONLINE.DE: Kevin, what was your reaction when national coach Toni Söderholm invited you to join the national team?
Kevin Reich: “I was really happy about the news! It has always been a great honor to wear the junior national team jersey. Now I’m happy to be nominated for the men’s national team for the first time.”
DEB-ONLINE.DE: What are your expectations for the premiere game?
Kevin Reich: “It's hard to have any expectation in games like this. I just let it happen to me. I expect a significantly higher pace than we are used to.”
DEB-ONLINE.DE: Do you have a favorite seatmate in the cabin?
Kevin Reich: “Actually, I don’t have a preferred seatmate. If I still had the choice, I would choose “Kasti” (Maximilian Kastner; editor’s note) be happy. He’s been my ‘roomie’ for two years.”
DEB-ONLINE.DE: Biggest tick before you go on the ice?
Kevin Reich: “Before the warm-up, I close my eyes and go through certain movements or situations in my head.”
DEB-ONLINE.DE: How many autographs can you get in 30 seconds?
Kevin Reich: “There are definitely ten autographs!”
