The German U16 national team lost its second of three games at the 2-nation tournament in Vierumäki (Finland). The team of U16 national coach Thomas Schädler lost to the hosts from Finland 3:6 (2:1, 1:2, 0:3).
After three minutes, Jere Lassila scored for Finland to take the lead 0-1. The German team gave the direct answer in the following change. Rayan Bettahar served Julian Lutz in the slot, who had no problems getting the score to 1-1. Six minutes before the break, Matthias Pischoff put the disc in front of the goal onto Luca Hauf's stick, who made it 2-1 at halftime.
Finland got into the game better after the break and tested Simon Wolf in the German goal time and again with top-class chances. In the 29th minute they were powerless when Elmeri Laakso scored from the blue line. Awakened by the goal, the German team now launched their own attacks again. When a Finn had to take a seat in the penalty box in the 30th minute, Leo Hafenrichter passed the ball across the third to Roman Kechter, who took the ball straight away and scored to take the lead again. Half a minute later, Jere Lassila completed a counterattack for Finland to make the score 3-3, which then continued into the final third.
Finland came out of the locker room better again and increased the lead to 45:3 in the 4th minute through Joakim Kemell. The DEBThe selection then had a hard time creating its own chances and conceded a goal from Iisai Pesonen in the 52nd minute to make it 3-5. Just eight seconds later, Oskari Hult made it 3:6 for Finland. The German team was more active again afterwards, but was unable to develop any compelling actions to score a goal and so the hosts also won the second game.
Thomas Schädler, U16 national coach: “We were able to make the first third positive. The boys implemented the tactical guidelines well. In the second third we deviated from our line. In the end, the deficit could no longer be made up against the strong Finns. Tomorrow we have a day off and can work on our tactical skills again.”
