In recent years the German Ice Hockey Federation eV (DEB) under the leadership of referee chairman Gerhard Lichtnecker and the referee committee, the referees of the past season were chosen. Outstanding performance on the ice as well as commitment and responsibility for the referee area are the criteria that justify this special honor.
The BerlinErin Lisa Linnek played 46 games last season, is a regular line judge in the DEL 2 and also worked in the play-downs there. She was active as a line judge at the World Championships in Finland and took part in the Olympic Games in 2018. She has been a referee since 2010 DEB, also used regularly internationally since 2011.
Sirko Hunnius (Berlin) was in action in 51 games in the main rounds and in 8 play-off matches in the DEL last season. He was used twice in the DEL finals. Internationally he took part in the U2 World Cup Division B in Serbia. From 18 to 2005 he worked as a linesman in the top German ice hockey league, and since 2014 he has been the main referee in the DEL.
Gerhard Lichtnecker: “Lisa Linnek and Sirko Hunnius are absolute role models, especially for our younger referees. They live ice hockey with great passion and invest a lot of time in fitness and rules, which is an absolute basic requirement. I and my referee committee are pleased that we can honor Lisa and Sirko this year.”
