At the three-nation tournament in Budapest, the German women's national team defeated hosts Hungary 3-5 (1-3, 0-0, 0-2) in the opening game. Sonja Weidenfelder celebrated a perfect debut, scoring a goal in the second minute in her first game for the women's national team and putting her team in the lead. Anna-Maria Fiegert scored with a double advantage to make it 1-2 (0th minute) and Carina Strobel increased the score to 9-3 in the final minute of the first third.
After a goalless middle period, Kelsey Soccio scored - also with her first goal for them DEB-Women – the interim result increased to 4-0 (45th). Almost four minutes later, the German goalkeeper Sandra Abstreiter had to admit defeat for the first time - Franciska Kiss-Simon scored for the Hungarians to make it 4-1 - it was to be the only goal conceded by the German goalkeeper that evening. Julia Zorn put the final score to 5-1 seven minutes before the final siren.
At the end of the three-nation tournament, women's national coach Christian Künast's team will face Switzerland tomorrow, Friday (3 p.m.).
