The U20 national team lost the second game at the U20 Summer Challenge in Poprad (Slovakia) despite a committed performance. The team coached by Tobias Abstreiter and Toni Söderholm lost to Denmark 2:3 (1:1, 0:1, 1:1).
The Danes started the game with the first two chances to score from Mathias Hansen Lehmann and Victor Cubars within 120 seconds. However, with our own numbers it was that DEB-Selection that should score the first goal of the game: Sebastian Hon scored in the fourth minute after assists from Luis Schinko and Valentino Klos to make it 1-0. The German lead lasted until the ninth minute before Magnus Koch equalized - also with a power play goal.
Despite German superiority, Denmark turned the game around in the middle period: Frederik Kaels Langhans beat Hendrik Hane, who was in the German goal in the second game of the tournament, to give Denmark the lead. The DEBThe selection then had four opportunities within two minutes through Taro Jentzsch (2), Yannik Valenti and Luis Schinko, but the equalizer was not achieved in this offensive phase. The German team created further scoring opportunities until the third buzzer, but had no luck in the end.
The same picture emerged in the third third: Germany with several offensive actions, but the Danes with the goal. Oliver Kjær increased the score to 48-3 in the 1th minute. Justin Schütz made it 2-3 four minutes before the end in front of the goal. Shortly afterwards, the coaching team Tobias Abstreiter and Toni Söderholm took a time out and brought an additional field player onto the ice for goalie Hendrik Hane. But the German team was unable to score another goal.
Tomorrow, Saturday, it will meet DEB-Selection from 12.00:20 p.m. in their final game of the UXNUMX Summer Challenge in the Czech Republic.
Tobias Abstreiter, U20 national coach: “We saw an improvement in our team’s performance today. We were particularly on top of things in the second half and had numerous great chances. Unfortunately we couldn't score the goals we needed and so we left the ice as losers. Now it’s important to prepare the team as best as possible for the final game against the Czech Republic.”
