Start of the season for the women's national team: performance review in Füssen

Women's national team starts the new season / Künast: “A lot of work in the technical area”

From June 27th to July 5th, 2019, the women's national team will meet at the federal base in Füssen for the official start of the season. Four goalkeepers, ten defenders and 13 strikers are checked by national coach Christian Künast about their current performance.

Extensive athletic sessions are planned for the first few days until Künast invites his team onto the ice for the first time on June 29th. This is followed by two training sessions per day for the national players, in which they work in groups and on their individual skills. Künast is supported by Norbert Weber (assistant coach), Jan Kamenik (goalkeeper) and Collin Danielsmeier (skills coach) on the ice as well as Karl Schwarzenbrunner (national coach for science and training) and Benedikt Ernst (athletics coach) off the ice.

The annual initial examinations took place at the Olympic training centres in Cologne, Berlin, Heidelberg and Munich. All squad athletes underwent sports medicine and performance testing.

Christian Künast, women’s national coach: “At the beginning of the summer, the players received a training plan specifically tailored to their needs. The training documentation shows that motivation is high and everyone wants to follow the path we have chosen. On the ice we will focus primarily on the technical area and work on individual skills.”
