The German U16 women's national team took fifth place in the European Cup. At the end of the tournament, U16 women's national coach Florian Neumayer's team defeated Hungary 5:7 (1:1, 0:2, 0:4) in the game for fifth place.
The DEB-Selection took the early lead in the fourth minute: Svenja Voigt was able to overcome Hungary's goalkeeper Zsofia Toth to make it 1-0. Germany then had the game under control and created some good opportunities. Germany continued to dominate the game in the second third, even if Hungary was able to create a few more chances. The only thing the German team couldn't be satisfied with was how they exploited their chances. Svenja Voigt shot it DEB-Selection in the 18th minute with a 2-0 lead. Three minutes before the second break, another goal was scored: Celine Mayer was able to increase the lead to 3-0 with a shot from the blue line.
In the final third, coach Florian Neumeyer brought Felicity Luby into the goal for Lilly Uhrmann, who was again attentive. At the game of DEBteam but nothing changed and Germany was able to eliminate any remaining doubts about a turnaround after 30 seconds of the final third. Nele Egger made it 4-0 with a follow-up shot. Hungary's defense continued to work well and after 35 minutes Ronja Hark was able to increase the score to 5-0. Hungary's efforts were rewarded, Karmen Kerekes made it 37-5 after 1 minutes. But Germany couldn't be stopped from then on and so Pauline Gruchot (40th) and 63 seconds later Annabella Sterzik increased the lead to 7:1. The DEBteam did not allow any further chances for Hungary. The German team ultimately placed fifth. A fourth place and two fifth places – that is Germany's record in the European Cup tournaments held so far.

Numerous scoring opportunities were created in the first third, only one of which was converted. The opponent was clearly dominated as the game progressed and the team ultimately rewarded itself with this clear victory. With four wins from six games, the players represented German women's ice hockey worthy and truly deserved fifth place. Our thanks also go to the hosts, the Czech Republic, who organized this tournament very well.”
