On Easter Sunday the U16 women's national team traveled to Pribram (CZE). The third edition of the European Cup will take place there from April 22nd to 29th with ten participating nations. Only Sweden and Slovakia have not confirmed their participation. A non-European nation, Japan, is taking part in the tournament.
This was possible at the first tournament in the Hungarian capital Budapest DEB-Team achieved fourth place, last year in Vierumäki (FIN) it was fifth place.
The opening opponent of U16 women's national coach Florian Neumayer's team in Group A is Austria (April 22.4). Other opponents in the preliminary round are Switzerland (April 24.4th), defending champions Finland (April 25.04th) and Norway (April 27.4th).
The teams from Austria and Switzerland were already opponents of the German team at a four-nation tournament in Selb in February. There, Austria was defeated 5:4 nP, and they lost to Switzerland 0:3.
While the coaching team Florian Neumayer and Daniel Bartell in Selb had to do without several regular players due to injuries and school obligations, in the Czech Republic all players except Lola Liang are available. U16 women's national coach Florian Neumayer is optimistic: “We hope that our team exploits its potential and has a good start to the tournament. That would be extremely important for morale and self-confidence. The exploitation of chances in particular, a major shortcoming in recent games, needs to be improved. Austria and Switzerland are difficult opponents, as you could see in Selb. Finland is the defending champion and favorite in the group. Norway is difficult to assess. Nevertheless, our goal is very clear – second place in the group phase and then go for the medals.”
In Group B, hosts Czech Republic, Russia, Japan, France and Hungary cross the bats. These teams are possible opponents in the cross-match or in the placement game.
