Next international match against the Czech Republic: Just 24 hours after the previous day's narrow 4:5 defeat, the German national team met the world number six again in Karlsbad. The DEB-Selection was again narrowly defeated by the Czechs 4:5 (2:2, 0:0, 2:3) in the second meeting in the KV Arena.
Compared to the previous day, national coach Toni Söderholm made changes to the squad. The gate of the DEBNiklas Treutle was in charge of the selection today. In defense, Jonas Müller returned to the squad, but Kai Wissmann was sidelined.
The German team started the match with an early goal: Parker Tuomie disrupted the Czech build-up play, secured the puck and served Stefan Loibl, who scored the opening goal in the third minute. A curious scene developed in the fourth minute when the puck went through the pads of the own goalkeeper after a cross pass from Hynek Zohorna. Goalies and from there slid over the goal line. Lean Bergmann deflected with his bat and had the goal recognized - the 2-0 lead for Germany. As a result, the Czech Republic applied pressure, but were initially unable to defeat goalie Niklas Treutle. In the ninth minute, however, the Nuremberg goalie was beaten: Dominik Kubalik fed Michal Repik in the center and he completed the goal for the Czech Republic. Two minutes later, Martin Zatovic marched through the German defense and ice-coldly finished the equalizer. Neither team was able to score any more goals in the remaining minutes.
A shocking moment for the Czechs after a few seconds in the middle section: Dominik Bittner collided with goalie Patrik Bartosiak. The latter remained on the ice. After a short break in treatment, it turned out that the Czech goalie couldn't go any further - Marek Langhamer took his place in the Czech goal. And seconds later this was checked twice by Parker Tuomie from an acute angle. Afterwards, however, it was the Czechs who increased the pressure and repeatedly combined in front of Niklas Treutle's goal. This was also the case in the 28th minute when David Tomasek hit the post. In the 30th minute the German team took command and had good chances to score through Parker Tuomie and Dominik Bokk. The Czechs then increased their offensive efforts again, but were unable to overcome Treutle.
The DEB-Selection started the final third with vigor and after just 60 seconds Leo Pföderl hit the post. On the other side, Niklas Treutle made two saves in the 43rd minute, but was powerless to save Rudolf Cerveny. Two minutes later, Hynek Zohorna made it 4-2 for the Czech team with a shot into the top right corner. But the DEB-Selection reported back in the 47th minute: Der BerlinDefender Jonas Müller showed his offensive qualities with his precise shot into the corner and reduced the score to 3:4 from the German team's point of view. As a result, the game petered out. In the 59th minute, Tomas Fort seemed to make everything clear for the Czechs with his superior goal. But on the other side, David Elsner then marched solo through the Czech defense - Lean Bergmann scored again. However, this goal was the final point of the encounter.
The German national team now has three days off from training before the next phase of World Cup preparation begins on Easter Monday. National coach Toni Söderholm will announce the squad for the measure shortly.

Toni Söderholm, national coach: “We came out of the locker room well and rewarded ourselves early for the fast-paced game. But afterwards we weren't clever enough and didn't learn from yesterday's game. Nevertheless, I think it's great the attitude with which our players performed. They gave it their all and never gave up. This shows that the character of the team is right. I would like to thank all the players for the commitment they have put in for the national team so far.”
