The U18 national team also won the second match of the 2019 IIHF U18 Ice Hockey World Championship in Grenoble. The team of U18 national coach Frank Fischöder defeated the Norwegian selection on Monday after a great fight 6:4 (2:1, 1:3, 3:0).
The Norwegians had lost their opening game against Denmark 1-2 the day before, but the German team went into the encounter with a win the day before. Like the day before, U18 national coach Frank Fischöder's team scored their opening goal against the Norwegians: Filip Varejcka deflected a shot from Simon Gnyp out of the air in the 11th minute to make it 1-0. Five minutes later, Jan-Luca Schumacher appeared completely free in front of Tobias Breivold, but was denied by the Norwegian goalie. The other side took revenge a few moments later: Andre Bjelland Strandborg equalized in the 17th minute. However, a goal from Lukas Reichel restored the German lead six seconds before the third break.
