Start of the first phase of the World Cup preparation: This Monday, the German national team arrived in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The check-in to the team hotel and the setting up of the cabin were completed by 14 p.m. At 15 p.m. national coach Toni Söderholm appeared in front of the 25-strong team for the first time DEB-Selection to officially welcome the players and staff and prepare them for the coming days.
After an off-ice warmup, we hit the ice at the Olympic Ice Sports Center in Garmisch-Partenkirchen at 16:30 p.m. The national coach's first training session with the national team lasted around 90 minutes.
Toni Söderholm said afterwards: “I saw smiles on the players’ faces on the ice. I liked that. The boys have experienced good and not so good times this season and should enjoy their time with us. The effort and speed were very good today, so I draw a positive conclusion. In the next few days, some tactical elements will be added that will be new for some people.”
All five were there too Debutants, who have been nominated for the upcoming international matches against Slovakia (in Kaufbeuren and Garmisch-Partenkirchen) and the Czech Republic (in Karlsbad).
Verteidiger Marcus Weber about his first training in the national team uniform: “After a few days without ice hockey, I had to get used to it again. Things went really well at the back. The boys are in great spirits and things are looking really good. Toni communicates a lot with us, explains exactly the tactics and what behavior he wants from the team. This is important, especially because we are a young bunch.”
Tomorrow there will be two on-ice sessions in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. At 10 a.m. we go out on the ice for the first time. There will be a meeting from 16.30:17.30 p.m. to XNUMX:XNUMX p.m public training in the Olympic Ice Sports Center, to which the DEB cordially invites everyone who is interested.
