Women's national team: World Cup preparations from March 22nd to 31st in Füssen

Women's national team is preparing for the World Cup in Füssen / Final squad nomination on March 28th / Künast: “Intensive preparation with an international match against France”

From March 22nd to 31st, 2019, the women will complete their final preparation for this year's 2019 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship, which will take place from April 4th to 14th, 2019 in Espoo, Finland. National coach Christian Künast nominated three goalkeepers, nine defenders and 15 strikers.

The team is invited onto the ice for daily sessions by the coaching duo Christian Künast / Norbert Weber. Athletic trainer Benedikt Ernst takes responsibility for the off-ice area.

On March 28th the squad will be reduced to the final 23 players. Two days later, on March 30th, at 18:00 p.m., the final test against France will take place in the Federal Training Center in Füssen. The plane of the DEB-Selection will then take off for Finland on April 1st. The German team will complete training sessions there again before their first World Cup opponent is Sweden on April 4th at 12:30 p.m.

Christian Künast, women’s national coach: “We will prepare intensively for the World Cup. I already know most of the team, it will now be supplemented by the players from overseas who were unable to travel to Russia in February. The friendly against France will give us the first insight into what awaits us at the World Cup.”
