Women's U16 national team ended with defeat
At the end of the 16 nations tournament in Selb, the women's U4 national team lost against the Czech Republic 2:4 (2:0; 0:1; 0:3). In the opening third, Annabella Sterzik took advantage of the first power play to take the lead. The Czech Republic tried to respond quickly, but Germany's defense was strong. And the women's U16s continued to attack on their own. One of them made it 2-0. Annabella Sterzik received the puck nicely from Leonie Böttcher and finished. The Czech Republic tried to score, but the U16s hardly allowed anything. The strongest third of the tournament brought a deserved 2-0 half-time lead. Germany's defense was also very good in the second third and so the guests found it difficult to create chances. Goalkeeper Felicity Luby did the rest confidently. Three minutes before the break, the good goalkeeper was powerless, and a shot from Anna Kalova made it 2-1. Germany maintained this result until the break, but had to start the final third outnumbered. After 50 minutes, the Czech Republic equalized. Hana Haasova poked the puck into the goal when the Czech Republic had the majority. Now minor mistakes crept into the women's U16 national team's game, one of which Hana Haasova used to put the Czech Republic in the lead. Germany didn't give up and created good chances. Shortly before the end, the Czech Republic managed to win the game, Hana Haasova scored again with a follow-up shot to make it 2:4.
U16 national coach Florian Neumayer: “Our team was able to keep the game balanced until the 30th minute. Unfortunately we ran out of energy at the end and had to pay tribute to the many penalty times in the last third. Nevertheless, we are very satisfied with the performance of the young team, which improved from game to game and was able to implement some of the guidelines better. We hope that we can rely on the six players who were unable to play in the European Cup and thus have a positive end to the season.”

Women's national team loses 1:3 against Switzerland
The German women's national team lost their final placement game against Switzerland 1:3 (0:0; 1:1; 0:2) and finished the tournament in Russia in 6th place. Both teams equalized in the first exchanges of the game. In the fourth minute it was the Swiss who appeared in front of the German goal guarded by Franziska Albl, but the German goalkeeper kept an overview. Almost seven minutes had been played when national coach Christian Künast's protégés picked up the pace. This increase in tempo also resulted in a Swiss penalty; Andrea Lanzl could only be stopped with a foul. But the passes in the majority formation were not precise enough and so Switzerland was able to break free again and again. Half of the third had been played and a German player had to take a seat in the penalty box. But the German players defended well and survived being outnumbered unscathed. Germany was just complete again when Sarah Kubiczek had the best German chance to date with a break. She failed because of Janine Alder in the Switzerland goal. Albl brilliantly held off Switzerland's strongest action to date four minutes before the break. A short time later the German team had another power play opportunity. However, this was equalized after a minute by a German penalty. They defended the remaining minute when they were outnumbered DEB-Selection was good and so the first period ended goalless. Switzerland got off to the better start in the second period. The first German chance in the second period came from Marie Delarbre in the 25th minute of play. Her backhand shot from distance was too harmless, however. A minute later, the German team was lucky when a shot after a Swiss break hit the handle of Albl's stick. Switzerland now had more of the game and the better chances, but the German back line held up under the pressure. Almost four minutes before the second break, the German team had another power play. Marie Delarbre passed to the blue line, Daria Gleißner had plenty of time, took aim and flicked the puck into the net. Switzerland responded with furious counterattacks and one of them found its way into the German goal nine seconds before the second break to make it 1:1. Right at the start of the final period, a German player had to go to the penalty box, but the special team stood firm and was able to prevent another goal from being conceded. Nina Kamenik tested Janine Alder in the 45th minute, but her shot was too inaccurate. Two minutes later, the DEB-Selection again has the chance to take the lead in the power play. But the German players couldn't get into the formation properly and so the score remained 1-1. Switzerland was just complete again when the Swiss scored to take a 1-2 lead. And a little later the Swiss increased their lead to 1:3. A shot from Sarah Forster hit Isabell Waidacher's skate, from where the disc deflected unstoppably for Albl. In the 52nd minute the German team had another power play opportunity. But even from a promising position, the disc simply didn't want to cross the line. And so it remained a 1:3 victory for Switzerland and 6th place for the German team.
Christian Künast, women's national coach: “Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to win in the third game either. The team showed great effort again, but at the moment we are still making too many individual mistakes. Many things are still new for the players. Despite the three defeats, it was a valuable tournament in which we learned a lot. It was an important experience, especially for the young players coming up, which will help them in the future. Overall, we still have a lot of work to do before the World Cup.”
